Project Name: Chehalis Tribal Community Center
Project Location: Chehalis, WA
AUE provided structural engineering design for the new Chehalis Tribal Community Center in Chehalis, Washington. It is a 40,000 square foot building including meeting, office & lobby spaces, two gymnasiums and a pool. This building uses complex shapes and roof angles to meet the architect’s vision. The lateral system consists of masonry bearing walls and steel braced frames. The roof framing consisted of a mix of glue laminated wood beams and some steel. A unique mix of beam supports and steel purlins with metal deck produced an efficient and aesthetic roof system. Other features within the building included large sloping columns and walls, a main hall way clearstory and two mechanical mezzanines. The global design of this structure accommodated multiple levels and differential slopes at the roof.
